Do you detox your mind?

We all know we need to do it, but how many of us do? Detox the mind.


It's going to be different for everyone. I think the key is to remember to actually do it. So often we find ourselves overwhelmed, worried, anxious. We're not sleep well, we can't relax in the evening. We've probably read about methods to de-stress, unwind, chill out and rest the brain. But do we do it?


Relaxation routines can help. This means having a little conversation with yourself about what and when you'll action your relaxation routine.


I do the following: When I get in my car at the end of the day, I turn on the car and get the music going. Then I sit there without going anywhere for a few minutes and I do some box breathing, usually 2 minutes. Breath in for 3 seconds, hold for 3 seconds, breath out of 3 seconds and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat.


When I get home I always have a drink of water and get changed, before anything else. My partner knows not to speak to me until I've done my little routine. He knows when I come out of the bedroom ready to begin the evening chores, I've put my work day behind me, I've freshened up and I'm ready for the next few hours of my evening. Fresh/detoxed brain.


Ok, so these mind detox routines don't sound like much, but for me they help. What do you do? What do you think you'd like to try?
